Contour with Contoured Studios!

Hola!

Honestly, I’d be lying if I said I was feeling great today. Mondays are especially harder after a long weekend.
After writhing in absolute freedom the last 3 days, my brain is still taking some time to restart its creative juice flow.
Until then, I am going to leave you guys this inspirational interview I had with Sharan from Contoured Studios– my superb makeup and hair artist for this whole series!

Screen Shot 2017-04-17 at 2.04.00 PM.pngWhat would you say your passion is and how does this relate to what you do?
Sharan: I love art! Anything with color, lines, texture, etc. Growing up I used to draw; A LOT! I feel that my steady hand I developed by drawing really helped me with my makeup applications and my love for art is what attracted me to this industry.

What inspired you to start your brand and what do you envision for the future?
Sharan: I always wanted something to call my own, my baby. And I always knew I would one day want to start my own makeup company, or product line etc. And now I have both! Tools are big when it comes to makeup applications so I really wanted to start line of my own brushes. Tools which are not only excellent quality, but affordable for all.

What advice would you give to young people who also want to start their own lines?
Sharan: Don’t give up! Consistency is key. It’s hard in the beginning but all those sleepless nights will pay off. Stay positive.

What are one of the hardships you face in this industry and how do you overcome it?
Sharan: I would one of the hardest things I have faced is trying to balance my work with my personal life. When your an entrepreneur, a mom, a wife, a daughter, a friend, etc. It’s sometimes hard to separate your work life from your personal life. Knowing when it’s time to put away your phone and just to turn it all off for a few hours.
I’m not going to lie. I’m still working on this and it’s really hard! But I have to say I’m definitely better at it.

I seriously agree with her last point. If you have noticed, I tend to disappear on the weekends, and this is because I find is crucial to get away from social media and the rest of the “cyber world” every now and then.
I find it extremely important to find a balance in all aspects of life.
Hope you enjoyed this read loves, more to come soon!
